FOOD UNPLUGGED Engelberg
‘The best event of the year’, ‘an event with soul & passion’, ‘anticipation’ - these are comments from visitors in recent years. This year, FOOD UNPLUGGED will take place for the 4th time from 13 to 15 June 2025.
On this weekend, Engelberg's catering establishments will come together to cook up a joint dish. The motto is WOOD FOOD: cooking without electricity or gas on an open fire. The barbecue areas at the Fürenalp cable car valley station are perfect for this. Three ‘kitchens’ will be set up, offering the chefs from Restaurant Spannort, the Skilodge, Villa Hundert, Hotel Bellevue-Terminus, the monastery restaurants and the team from Bistro 1800 of the Titlis cable cars their stages.
Friday and Saturday evenings are reserved for the forest dinner. Seats at the long table are highly coveted and sold out months in advance. The evening begins with an aperitif and amuse bouche before taking a seat at the laid table with around 100 other guests. Five courses are served, for each of which one chef is responsible. All the other chefs help out and work hand in hand. The same applies to the service crew. A colourful bunch from all the establishments, plus Friends & Family. The latter also include the two winegrowers - Brunner Weinmanufaktur and Weingut Kastanienbaum, who put together the wine accompaniment for each evening and actively help with the tasting and explanations. By the way, a shuttle bus is available from and to Engelberg railway station. Don`t drink and drive...
Speaking of energetic - it takes a lot of helpers and supporters to make Food Unplugged what it is. Philippe from Walden Outdoor and his beautiful tents, which guarantee that we can hold the event. Marc from Perler Ofen with his wood-burning cookers and ovens. Furniture and all kinds of beautiful things from Markus/ Antik Grafenort and the Brocki team from IG Arbeit. In addition to the heroines at the cooker and service, there are also the logistics, set-up and dismantling, washing up and decoration teams. Mostly unseen, but nevertheless indispensable.
If you haven't got a ticket for the evening, you can also visit FOOD UNPLUGGED during the day. There is WOOD FOOD on Saturday and Sunday from 11:30 to 17:00. You can eat your way from stand to stand, stock up on regional products and this year also ceramics at the WOOD MARKET and enjoy the wonderfully uncomplicated atmosphere. Kids and family are welcome, admission is free and there's balm for the soul on top.
Be sure to drop by, it's worth it - that's a promise!
