Winter outdoor WORK OUTs in the evening

Dark, long winter evenings can become the highlight of work outs with the help of headlamps, floodlights or moonlight

For some time now, more and more outdoor sports evening events have been established in Engelberg. Cross-country skiing technique training with the Engelberg cross-country skiing school on the night trail, a ski tour to dinner together in the Untertrübsee restaurant or ICE bathing with the FitPhysio team.
On full moon nights there are even more: A cross-country skiing tour with grilled sausage, organised by our sports shop partner Titlis Sport, or guided snowshoe tours by Prime Ski School or Go-on Events.
Of course, it's mostly Engelberg locals, or rather people who live in Engelberg, who take part in the evening sports programme, but more and more second homes, holiday guests or sports enthusiasts from the region are also taking part.
Loose meetings that mostly communicate via WhatsApp groups. Thumbs up = I'm there, thumbs down = unfortunately not today. This way, the host, barbecue owner or trainer know what kind of crowd they can expect.

Nadia and Noel improve their technique and fitness during cross-country training on Tuesday evening in the Sporting Park area. The two seem to be at one with their skis and are therefore able to demonstrate and, above all, explain everything perfectly. Aha effects by the metre, so to speak.
Dani Friedel from the former OKAY started the Night Hike many years ago. His shop used to be the meeting point and everyone who needed to equip themselves with touring skis was at the right address. In the meantime, the starting point has moved to the end of the valley descent. Destination: a cheese slice in the style of the house at the Untertrübsee restaurant. Everyone goes at their own pace, but everyone gets to the top in around 45 minutes. It always starts on Wednesdays at 7.00 pm.
The cool group from FitPhysio always go ICE swimming on Mondays. They venture into the Erlenbach at 7.15 pm. And it feels so good. Somehow the cold water seems to be the best therapy for all sorts of things, but Thea will tell you more.
So if the days in Engelberg are too short for you to try everything, you have enough energy for a double shift or you find it totally relaxing to swim in single-digit water temperatures, then you've come to the right place. Happy holidays in Engelberg!

Speaking of the next full moon cross-country skiing date is 13 March 2025...
