YUCI Anniversary Weekend
It was a blast! - Thank you #yucifriends, thank you Polly Duster and thank you to the current Yuci Crew!
On 5 and 6 December 2025, we were able to enjoy two evenings and nights with you. It was soooooooo nice to welcome many (old) familiar faces, share memories and raise a glass together. It was especially nice to see so many former Yuci staff members. Formerly behind the bar, now mothers and fathers, they have reached a completely different point in their lives. There was just one small downside to all this: the cancellation of the Funky Monks.
But let's start at the beginning. On Thursday evening, we got a surprise call from Nori Rickenbacher. He had come down with a nasty cold and, with a heavy heart, had to cancel Saturday's gig. That was terrible news for everyone. The band, which had played so often at Yuci and reunited for Yuci's 30th anniversary, couldn't perform. What a bummer! Heads in the sand! Disappointment! But we knew that this decision wasn't taken lightly, so we kept our chins up and looked for solutions. Roger from Polly Duster saved us spontaneously and without any fuss. He and his Ladies & Gents would play a double gig on Friday and Saturday – no problem!
Polly Duster, Roger Schöni Schönenberger's band, is as much a part of Yuci as burgers are. Their performance was ‘only’ planned for Friday, but in fact they rocked the whole weekend. They are picture-perfect entertainers, and time has clearly left no mark on them – young and wild like the rest of us this weekend, they launch one hit after another. And in keeping with tradition, Roger also does us the honour of singing Joe Cocker's ‘You Can Leave Your Hat On’. He's still got it...
The audience danced and shook like in the old days. In the days that followed, some talked about tired legs or neck pain from headbanging – wonderful! Others got into the swing of things during the evening: the sound was great, the party was amazing, this has to happen every weekend now. Yes, exactly! There were only five people who were present on both evenings. So much for hangovers and stamina. The recovery phase is now also much more intense and longer. That's why we're convinced that the RADIO ROCK “n” ROLL evenings on the middle Friday of the month and the Live Music Weekends at the end of the month are the right cadence.
On Friday, 19 December 2025, DJ Barmy & Friends will kick off the RADIO ROCK “n” ROLL season. From 10 p.m. onwards, you can enjoy the finest guitar sounds at La Cantina.
